Bacteriocine-Detection
This test procedure examines the influence on the formation of antibacterially active peptides, which are produced by some microorganisms of the human skin microbiome as a defense strategy against foreign germs. These so-called bacteriocins are an important component of the microbial immune defense on the skin surface.
UV A / UV B Irradiation Test
Sun exposure – including UVA and UVB radiation – is essential to produce vitamin D and for our well-being. However, excessive sun exposure also carries the risk of skin damage, including acute sunburn, premature aging, wrinkles, or even various types of cancer. However, this exposure to sunlight also has an influence on the body’s skin microbiome. This influence is examined using this test method, in which the microorganisms are exposed to a defined radiation dose under controlled conditions in the presence and absence of the test substance.
Kinetics Test
Some cosmetic products contain antimicrobial active components that are intended to specifically inhibit the growth of microorganisms or reduce their number. The kinetics test is used to resolve this antimicrobial effect over time, i.e. how long does the product need to achieve the desired effect against the defined microorganisms.
Surface Protection Test
The “Surface Protection Test” is a special adaptation for testing antimicrobial active formulations. Here, the desired antimicrobial effect on the surface is investigated and, at the same time, the influence on the skin microbiome, which is embedded in an underlying 3D matrix is examined. The aim of the product is to achieve superficial effectiveness against pathogenic germs and to maintain the endogenous skin microbiome at the same time.
Vegan-Test for Vegan Cosmetics
In this specially developed vegan test procedure, no components of animal origin or animal ingredients are used, i.e. the entire test is carried out without animal products, so that the vegan idea can also be extended to testing the microbiome compatibility of the vegan product. The Vegan-Test is available for the following skin microbiomes:
– Face & Body
– Scalp
– Foot
– Nose
– Axilla
Growth Kinetics-Test
The use of pre- and postbiotic active ingredients in cosmetic products can also have an impact on the skin microbiome. Depending on the type of additive, different microorganisms in the skin microbiome can use and metabolize these substances differently as a source of nutrients. This creates the possibility of promoting the growth of certain microorganisms.
This is exactly where our Growth Kinetics test comes in: it examines the differential growth of individual microorganisms in the presence and absence of the product.
