Animal Microbiome Test Standard Cow
The core microbiome of the cow’s skin is made up of several representatives of the Actinobacteria, Firmicutes and Proteobacteria. These representatives include Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Corynebacterium and Acinetobacter species.
Our “Cow” microbiome test standard includes 4 key organisms that are typically found on the skin of dogs.
Microbial Infectious Diseases in Cows
Microbial skin diseases occur relatively frequently in cows. The causes can be very different. However, micro-injuries to the skin usually play a role in the development of the infection. The most typical microbially caused skin infections in cows include:
– Mud fever (skin inflammation in the pastern)
– Mastitis (inflammation of the udder tissue)
